The attack of fighters of “DNR” in OSCE: a U.S. reaction

The United States called the attack on the OSCE observers “challenge” for the Minsk agreements.

The United States delegation to the OSCE condemned the attack on the Special monitoring mission of the Organization, stressing that the observers must have unrestricted access to all areas.

This is stated in the official statement of the mission.

“We join the head of the Special OSCE monitoring mission, Ambassador Apakan, in condemning attacks on members of the OSCE SMM and capture their unmanned aircraft by Russia-backed separatists”, – stated in the document.

The American mission pointed out that the Special monitoring mission plays an important role in monitoring military operations and movement along the line of contact, and her work helps to save lives of civilians.

“SMM representatives should have unrestricted access to all areas that they patrol, without threats and intimidation”, the statement reads. It is noted that such attacks were a “direct challenge to the collective will of the 57 member-States and the Minsk agreements.”
