VKontakte added to an Android application built-in proxy for Ukrainian users.
In the new update of the app Vkontakte on the Android platform have the opportunity to go to the social network from Ukraine.
After you install the update in the main account settings you can enable “Use Proxy server”, and access to social networks will be restored despite the block in Ukraine.
The company confirmed that have tested this function on a limited number of users. On 9 July it launched for everyone.
Information about what built-in proxy is available to all users on Android, confirmed by a representative of Vkontakte Vlad Legotkin. He also said that for iOS users, this feature is not available. “While this is more an experiment, so I rolled out only for Android”, — he explained.
With proxy enabled, the user receives access to news, messages, audio recordings, and played all the songs, including those that may be blocked due to copyright infringement when calling through the VPN with an access point in Europe. However, uploading files is still not working. Also with proxy enabled data loading is slower than usual.
