The ancient Sun was a giant star

In ancient times the Sun was larger than at present.

Astronomer Petrus Martens presented the arguments that in ancient times the Sun was larger than at present, and rapidly lose their mass. The Preprint studies available in the library electronic preprints arXiv.org.

Approximately three billion years ago, according to estimates of the scientist, the Orb lost about 0,0000000000075 of its mass each year (about three percent of the initial mass for three billion years of existence), currently this value is two orders of magnitude lower and is not significant to account for changes in the brightness of stars. To such conclusions the scientist came, drawing attention to the fact that over time the Sun and most of these stars slow down their rotation. According to the author, this occurs because of the loss of their mass.

This also means that in ancient times it was shining as bright as today, helping to resolve the paradox of a weak young Sun. The latter is connected with impossibility of existence four billion years ago on the surface of the Earth and Mars liquid water due to the lack of incoming energy from the young sun, which was 20-30% dimmer than at present (while maintaining his current size and weight).

An alternative and more attractive explanation for the paradox of a weak young Sun is the presence on ancient Earth and Mars dense atmospheres, the greenhouse effect which provided conditions suitable for the presence on the surfaces of planets liquid water.

Previously, scientists suggested that the greenhouse effect in the Earth’s atmosphere could be created using asteroid bombardment. Attaining a diameter of one hundred kilometers these heavenly bodies when falling to the Ground cause the melting of large volumes of rocks that creates a huge lava lake, which in the process of cooling it released large amounts of carbon dioxide and warm up the atmosphere.
