Svitolina lost the match-ball and lost to Halep in the 1/4 finals Roland Garros-2017

The first racket of Ukraine Elina Svitolina was one ball from getting into the semi-finals of Roland Garros, but was unable to take the final step to a new milestone.

Strong-willed victory over Petra Martic in the fourth round proved costly, Svitolina, Ukrainian injured his back during the quarter-final match against Simona Halep came out on painkillers injections.

Tennis players held the third official match in 2013 in Sofia, won a landslide victory Halep (6:1, 6:1), but three weeks ago in the final of a major tournament in Rome Svitolina said the Romanian strong-willed success (4:6, 7:5, 6:1).

Alas, the second attempt Svitolina was unable to complete this match – Elina made a few unforced errors and could not save his serve.

With the score 5:5, Svitolina was close to the hidden match-ball, but allowed Halep to get his serve and to continue the successful streak to five games in a row. In the 12th game of Svitolina miraculously walked away from a triple set ball and went to fight for the semifinals in the tie-break. In the final game of the set, Elina was leading 4:2, then made three simple mistakes. With the score 4:5 Ukrainka two magnificent strikes earned the first match-point, but Halep played a most important point. Soon, the Romanian earned another set-bol – this time the cable is treacherous for Svitolina played in favor of her opponent. Players were waiting for the deciding set.

Unfortunately, Svitolina are unable to concentrate on the deciding set. Having missed so gigantic advantage, the native of Odessa outright failed the third set and could not for the first time to reach the semi-finals in the tournament series Grand slam.

Small consolation for Elina Svitolina will be the fact that from Monday it will become the fifth racket of the world and once again update the record of Ukraine.
