Svitolina in the semifinals, Toronto defeated the second racket of the world

Ukrainian Elina Svitolina broke into the final of a major tournament series Premier 5 in Toronto.

Five hours later after a comeback victory over Garbine Muguruza Svitolina had a semi-final match against Simona Halep. For Ukrainian women this match was crucial, because not so long ago in the quarterfinals of Roland Garros, Svitolina missed a clear win over a player from Romania.

In Toronto Svitolina has done everything to erase the Paris fiasco from memory. The Ukrainian needed just 57 minutes to defeat Halep, who managed to take only two games. Romanian flinch under the pressure of the unsinkable rival – 34 unforced errors and only occasional attempts to change the course of the match.

Svitolina in Toronto issued a record in the career of the 43rd victory of the season. Ukrainian the ninth time in 2017 defeated the opponent from the top 10, including seven wins over players from top-5 world rating.

For the title in Toronto Elina Svitolina argue with the ex-first racket of the world Caroline Wozniacki. At stake for Ukrainian women in this match will be the fifth title of the season, a record-breaking fourth line in the rating of WTA, and the first position in the title race.

Elina Svitolina (Ukraine, 5) — Simona Halep (Romania, 2) — 6:1, 6:1
