In the discussion of the format of the UN mission to other countries in the “Normandy format” do not participate.
A new meeting of the special representative of the United States Ukraine, Kurt Volker and assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Vladislav Surkov will take place after approval of her agenda. This was announced by the Director of the Center for political conjuncture Alexei Chesnakov, who is considered close to Surkov, in an interview with TASS.
“First, the problem may be due to busy schedule distinguished Vladislav Yuryevich. Second, know that the process of agreeing the agenda of this future meeting. This will also require some time. The end of the year is always a difficult period for such events”, – said the expert.
He also reminded that Russia insists on further negotiations on UN peacekeepers in the Donbass, if the concept in this issue will be supported in General. In particular, that UN forces should provide armed guards of the Special monitoring mission (SMM) of the OSCE.
Also the forces of the parties should be divorced along the line of contact. And between them must be observers of the OSCE SMM, protected by UN forces. In addition, observers of the OSCE SMM to inspect the entire territory of the conflict on both sides of the line of contact. In these inspection raids they also must be accompanied by armed UN security.
“As far as I know, the Americans were willing to discuss the parameters of this basic concept… that is why there was an appointment of Surkov and Volcker in Belgrade on 13 November. But, contrary to these agreements, a meeting on the Volcker brought proposals incompatible with the Russian concept,” – said Chesnakov.
He also added that in the discussion of the format of the UN mission to other countries in the “Normandy format” do not participate.
“Walker leads the negotiations on their own… Walker, of course, is in contact with the representatives of the countries of the “Normandy format”. At this stage European colleagues put it forward, since the task of coordination of the positions are difficult and ungrateful. They watch what happens,” – said Chesnakov.
