Sugar is addictive as cocaine
Scientists of the Institute of the cardiovascular system in Kansas found that sugar is even more addictive than the opioid drugs, as evidenced by the results of the experiments conducted on rats.
“The consumption of sugar produces an effect similar to the effect of cocaine – changing mood with the ability to cause a feeling of satisfaction and pleasure”, – quotes the edition of the study’s authors.
The researchers added that abstinence from consumption of sugar may cause symptoms, including depression and behavioral disorders.
“It became clear that the lack of dopamine in the brain between the consumption of sugar can lead to attention deficit disorder with hyperactivity”, – stated in the report of the Institute’s employees.
