Stoltenberg said that Ukraine is the closest partner of NATO

The Alliance intends to continue to support their closest partners – Ukraine and Georgia.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg stated that Ukraine and Georgia as the closest partners of the Alliance will receive political and practical support. He said this on Tuesday, July 10, at a press conference in Brussels.

“On Thursday we will meet with the presidents of Georgia and Ukraine. Together we will solve the regional problems, the issues of defense reforms countries and continued support of NATO,” Stoltenberg said.

In addition, the Secretary General noted that the Alliance is satisfied with how Georgia is adapting the standards of the Alliance and reaffirms the decision that one day this country joins NATO.

“I am confident that the member countries of the Alliance tomorrow to recognize the progress Georgia. Georgia is showing good progress,” Stoltenberg said.

Recall that a separate meeting of leaders of the NATO with participation of the President of Petro Poroshenko will not take place because of the veto of Hungary. Budapest agreed to the meeting in the format Ukraine-the NATO-Georgia.

As you know, Georgia and Ukraine received the status of a graduate student into NATO, which gives you the opportunity to be invited (only the possibility) to participate in the development of the plan of action concerning membership (pdch) in an Alliance. Though participation in the map does not guarantee them membership in the organization.
