For the King of terrors 2017 turned out to be a truly fruitful year starting with the series “Mist” and “Mr. Mercedes” and passing on big screens where not so long ago, viewers saw “the Dark tower”, and will soon appreciate the new version of “It”. It is no secret that king so loves to watch the film adaptation of his works that sells budding filmmakers the rights to another play for a symbolic fee of$ 1. It would seem that this generosity is already all works of the king was to be filmed, and more than once, but not so simple – some worthy candidates still waiting for their Directors. This week, the publication Variety asked the writer, some adaptation of own novel he would like to see. King did not have to think about the answer:
I think “the Story of Lizzie”. This is one of my favorite books, and I’d be happy to watch the filming. Especially now, when there was such openness on the various streaming services on TV and even on cable channels. He has more freedom, and when removed the next movie based on the book, triggered the thing, which I call the “syndrome of the seat on the suitcase.” It’s when you try to pack all things at once, but the suitcase is not closed, and you sit down on it and pushing until it finally closes. So it’s really a difficult task – to take a perfectly calibrated plot of the novel and fit it in two hours and ten minutes. But the format of the series is for 10 hours, and the opportunity to do something extraordinary, like “the handmaid’s Tale”.
In my opinion, I do best when the filmmakers stick to the original text, because that’s who they become for the film adaptation. Otherwise what’s the point of buying the launcher, but not to take the missile?
“The story of Lizzie”, released in 2006, was ambiguously adopted regular readers of King, which complained of the excessive slowness of the narrative.
