Ukrainian Premier League announces open season 2017-2018.
The format of the championship:
Like last season, in the elite of Ukrainian football will start on 12 clubs in place of the “Volyn” and “Dnepr” in the Premier League came “Mariupol” (ex-“Illichivets”) and “Veres”, replacing the “Gum” that has not received the certificate for participation in the main division of the championship of Ukraine.
The season will again be played in two stages: in the first part the team will play 22 matches, and then will be divided into two groups of six teams. The first “six” will determine the champion and participants of the European Cup next season, and the second will lead the struggle to preserve residence in the Premier League.
Worst team of the season will go in the First League, while clubs finishing 10-th and 11-th place, will carry the play-offs with second and third team of the First League.
Favorites:
Yesterday’s match for the Supercup of Ukraine gave a clear view of the fight for the championship. The reigning Premier League Shakhtar Donetsk to start the new season comes the status as the undisputed favorite for the conservation title.
“Dinamo” will try to impose the struggle of Shakhtar, “dawn”, not forgetting the tight competition from “Alexandria”, “Mariupol”, “Carpathians”, “Vorskla” and “Chernomorets” will try to challenge the two hegemony of the championship.
Outsiders:
The inexperience of “Veres”, the uncertainty of the financial situation in “Steel” and poor performance in the transfer market “Stars” are doing these clubs are the main figures of the struggle to maintain residence in the elite of Ukrainian football.
