Blizzard released the first in eight years patch for the cult strategy StarCraft: Brood War, which makes it absolutely free. Full upgrade information is available on the website of the game.
Patch 1.18 adds some new features to the strategy, which was released 19 years ago. Among them — support windowed mode, spectator mode, auto-save replays of matches. Also, the developers have improved the compatibility with Windows 7, 8, 10, and macOS.
The update came ahead of the release of reissues of the original StarCraft. A remastered version was announced at the end of March and will be available this summer. The game will support 4K resolution and increase the image detail. Gameplay strategy will not change.
The first part of the StarCraft came out in the spring of 1998. The game was included in the hundred best games of all time according to the portal IGN. In 2010 came the first part of the sequel trilogy, StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, 2013, the second (StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm), in 2015 — the third (StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void).
