After the start of Russian aggression in the East of Ukraine in 2014 appeared sharply increased fear of military action. This was stated by the sociologist and Director of the Fund “Democratic initiatives” Irina Bekeshkina, referring to the annual monitoring of Institute of sociology.
According to her, in recent years, fears of the citizens of Ukraine also often associated with economic turmoil, particularly with the loss of a job.
“In fact, for all the years of Ukraine’s greatest fears were economic rising prices, job loss, plant closures. Of course, after the Russian aggression in 2014 first appeared and dramatically increased the fear of military action. But as the stabilization of the situation, he retreated somewhat, and is now completely dominated by economic fears,” said the sociologist.
According to Bekeshkina, among the greatest fears of Ukrainians – the fear of hunger (30%), in previous years, this fear was shared by 50% of citizens who participated in the survey.
