Russian state television has again used misleading footage in the story of the conflict in Eastern Ukraine.
We are talking about the plot of “Donbass shot under the fascist marches of Soviet guns” in the program “Vesti Nedeli”, where the correspondent of “Russia 1” accuses the Kiev-controlled troops from battalion Azov committing war crimes.
The story says about the fire of the controlled self-proclaimed DNR village of Bezimenne, which, according to “Vesti week” that occurred may 9 and was the “most brutal” this year.
It tells the correspondent of TV channel Alexander Sladkov, “beaten on the centre of the village, where he laid flowers to the monument to soldiers killed in the great Patriotic war”.
He also said that the attack used an old Soviet gun. His words are accompanied by a video that shows how some people shoot a gun, and the voice-over says: “We shoot out of a cannon for 43 years at the Russian occupiers”.
In addition, the plot demonstrates an interview of one of fighters of “Azov” with a call sign Yar, who says that he and his colleagues wanted to shoot from an old cannon and in the end it failed.
However, the video revealed inconsistencies – on shots with a gun with the caption “Ukraine may 9, 2017” in the trees has no leaves, and the footage, which shows how the shells hit the village, all the trees are already green.
Apparently journalists used to plot a six-minute video, published on 5 June on the Youtube channel, which supports the separatists. The entry titled “Attack of the 100 mm artillery Sonderkommando Azov Nameless may 9, 2017.”
But in fact footage shots from a gun and the interview was first published on the AZOV media channel in Youtube 23 Nov 2015.
The TV channel “Russia 1” had previously been caught in scandals over the use of incorrect videos in stories, accusing the Ukrainian military of war crimes. So, in may 2014, the channel, showing the brutality of the Ukrainian military has used video 2012 from the North Caucasus.
Then the General Director of news Agency “Russia today” and host of “Russia 1” Dmitry Kiselev called this “random error”.
“Mistake, but in any case not manipulation,” he said.
