English photographer showed what lived and breathed Liverpool in the early 80s.
In the early 80-ies of the last century, Liverpool reached the bottom: it was the most difficult for the city since the end of World war II.
In the 70s the whole of Britain has faced economic difficulties and a decline in the number of jobs, but the situation in Liverpool the early 80s was worse. Then due to the closure of large industrial enterprises in the city recorded the highest in the country unemployment rate. Every year, once a prosperous port city left 12 thousand people, resulting in about 15% of the buildings in Liverpool were empty or abandoned.
In those difficult times, the city draws its depressing picture of the decline of many veteran photographers, but the famous photographer Martin Parr shot it especially a lot, because at that time lived in the same part of England.
