Ex-midfielder of real Madrid, Liverpool and Spain national team Xabi Alonso rivals “Shakhtar” in the 1/8 finals of the Champions League have chosen Roma, which in the group stage unexpectedly left behind “Chelsea” and “Atletiko”.
Shakhtar and Roma have twice met in the Champions League. In the 2006-2007 season in the group stage, the teams exchanged home wins (1:0 and 1:4), and in the 2010-2011 season, the Pitmen under Mircea Lucescu in the 1/8 finals twice beat the Italians (3:2 and 3:0) and first broke through in the 1/4 finals of the Champions League.
