Serbian MiG-21 fighter jet crashes near village during routine flight, 1 pilot reportedly killed, 1 missing

The aircraft was flying a routine mission when it crashed near the village of Brasina. Rescue teams have been dispatched to the scene.

Serbian media published photos showing the wreckage of the fuselage in a wooded area.

Broadcaster RTS reported that one pilot was killed, while another is missing. According to the report, a local man was also injured when the plane fell near his home; he is now hospitalized and in stable condition.

The Serbian Air Force has been conducting numerous training flights over the past several days in preparation for the major ‘Cooperation 2020’ military exercise scheduled for October.
