The company Relativity Space is working on creating missiles Terran 1, 95% of which elements will be printed.
In the United States plan to print on a 3D printer rocket Terran 1. The majority of the elements, including 10 engines, will be printed on a 3D printer.
The designers say that modern missiles are more than 100 thousand parts. But in their aircraft of these elements will be much smaller – up to 1 thousand. 3D print a missile, Terran 1 will not exceed 60 days.
The estimated cost per launch is $ 10 million. The first test flight Terran 1 is scheduled for 2020. If all goes well, commercial launches will begin in 2021. In the long term the company is going to print a 3D rocket straight to Mars.
