The main purpose of this trip is the study of fracture in the earth’s crust
Scientists from the National Oceanography centre, UK Southampton University are going to organize the most unique journey to the center of the Earth.
This will be used drilling vessel “Chikyu,” which was specially created during the Japanese project “Chikyu Hakken”.
The scientists said that the main purpose of this trip is the study of fracture in the earth’s crust, which caused the strongest earthquake of Tohoku in 2016. In addition, they intend to find answers that relate to the evolutionary history of the Earth. As will a drilled hole right up to the earth’s mantle, it will be the reason for studying the structure of the mantle, and the search for new organisms.
The head of the scientific project Mohole to Mantle Damon Crucibles stated that a group of experienced geologists will be engaged in a detailed study of the mantle, which represents nearly 68% of the mass of the Earth. It should be noted that to date, scientists have very little information of the mantle.
It is noted that the drill ship “Chikyu” will be equipped with a special drill and drill bit that can withstand very high temperature and pressure. To date, this project estimated at $1 billion.
Scientists have said that 2030 will be able to get to the center of the Earth, and all financial matters will be resolved before the end of this year.
