An international group of scientists have discovered in space the ancient “dead galaxy” in which the star formation ended another 1.65 billion years after the Big Bang. The results of the study were published in the scientific journal Nature.
It is reported that in the galaxy, which astronomers called ZF-COSMOS-20115, there are about 300 billion stars. They were formed over a billion years.
Also, scientists have calculated the diameter of the galaxy, which is equal to the distance from the Sun to the Orion nebula.
According to experts, this is the earliest “dead galaxy” known for today. According to the existing science models, “dead galaxy” could not appear earlier than three billion years after the Big Bang.
