Musicians can hear better and speak more correctly
People who studied music, actively think, better to accept it and correct say. This conclusion was made by scientists from China and Canada.
Using functional magnetic resonance imaging specialists conducted measurements of brain activity in 15 musicians and 15 studying music at the age of 21-22 years. The volunteers were asked to improve the syllables in a changing background noise.
In the absence of noise, both groups of subjects showed similar results in brain activity. When the background noise level is significantly raised, the musicians showed much better results. The scanner showed that this was due to enhanced activation of the left inferior frontal and right auditory areas in the brain of musicians.
As the scientists explain, in the brains of people with musical training, the neural patterns responsible for the sounds that make up syllables more clear in the bilateral auditory and frontal motor departments associated with the production of speech.
Moreover, it was found that music training enhances functional connectivity of auditory and motor networks, and it best explains the behavioral actions of the musicians.
One of the conclusions of the researchers, is that for seniors who have difficulty with speech and hearing, should develop a program of musical training.
