Scientist James Cole of the University of Brighton in the UK have estimated the calorific value of human meat.
His calculations he carried out on the basis of the analysis contained in flesh protein and fat, using the remains of four ancient Homo sapiens.
Male over 18 years old, who weighs about 66 pounds, contains more than 143 thousand calories (216 calories per 100 grams). Of these, only 32 thousand accounts on skeletal muscle tissue. The most nutritious is the flesh of an adult man, while the flesh of the child up to four years is low in calories. The scientist did not mention the calorie content of female flesh, but said that it is much lower than men’s.
If you compare us with the animals, the meat of a man is not very nutritious. Every kilogram of muscle of the beaver or wild boar contains about 900 calories, whereas a human is only 325. In this regard, the scientist wonders why the ancient people were engaged in cannibalism if human meat was not nutritious.
He suggested that the cannibalism of the people have some social sense and not served as a means to fill their stomach.
