The artist Edvard Munch painted the Scream impressed by the phenomenon known as mother of pearl clouds.
This advanced version of the Norwegian scientists who studied the diaries of expressionist.
Researchers of the University of Oslo found in the diaries of the painter mention unusual atmospheric phenomena, when the sky suddenly became blood red.
“A frightening spectacle, captured by Munch was probably caused by a single experience, according to his records,” the researchers explain.
It is noted that the appearance of mother-of-pearl clouds was really documented in Oslo in the late 19th century.
“I was walking down the path with two friends – the sun was setting – suddenly the sky turned blood red I paused, feeling exhausted, and leaned on the fence – I looked at the blood and tongues of fire above the blue-black fjord and city – my friends walked on, and I stood, quivering with emotion, feeling infinite scream piercing through nature,” Munch wrote in his diary.
A few years ago, researchers in the United States put forward the theory that Edward Munch was reflected in his best known painting the eruption of the Indonesian volcano Krakatau in 1883.
Norwegian scientists do not agree with this hepatiti because of the clouds, which after the eruption could appear in unexpected places, could not create an effect of undulation, as on the Creek.
