Scientists have uncovered the mystery of the “House of the dead” near Stonehenge

“House of the dead” contains the remains of the people who built Stonehenge.

Studies carried out by a drone, showed that in place of the “House of the dead” are two deep ditches, enveloping the Central part, which is a mound where, according to the scientists, buried the bodies of the builders of Stonehenge.

Experts believe that the earth from the ditches was used to create the mounds and graves of people in the “House of the dead” were carried out approximately 5.6 thousand years ago. Previously, archaeologists believed that the ditches represent traces of agricultural activities.

“The house of the dead” is located between the two ancient monuments — Europe’s largest megalithic stone circle of Avebury and Stonehenge.

To date, Avebury consists of three stone circles (one outer and two inner). The great circle formed about a hundred stones in diameter exceeds 300 meters.

Stonehenge was built four or five thousand years ago. The most severe of its stones weigh 30-40 tons. Finally, the purpose of the monument is still not known. It is known that these structures are transported to Wiltshire (present location) from Wales.
