An international team of scientists has created a three-dimensional model of the remnant of the exploded supernova. A study published in the journal Astrophysical Journal Letters, the movie is presented by the National radio astronomy Observatory (USA).
An animation showing the structure of the remnant of supernova SN 1987A, the purple marked area dominated by silicon monoxide, yellow — carbon monoxide, blue — hydrogen. The data for the model were obtained during the observations of the Observatory ALMA (Atacama Large Millimeter Array) and Hubble.
SN 1987A is located in the tarantula nebula at the distance of 168 thousand light-years from Earth. The Orb exploded in 1987, it was the closest to the Sun, the supernova since the invention in 1609, Galileo Galilei telescope.
