Scientists have predicted the onset of climate catastrophe

The increase in the average temperature to no more than 3 degrees Celsius will trigger more storms, floods and droughts.

American scientists have predicted the attack by 2100 climate catastrophe. A study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

The scientists are assessing the impact of the increase in average temperatures on the conditions of habitability of the Earth, just scientists considered three scenarios.

According to the first, “dangerous” scenario, the increase in the average temperature to no more than 3 degrees Celsius will cause an increase in the number and intensity of storms, floods and droughts.

The growth temperature in the range of 3-5 degrees will trigger the complete destruction of the ice sheet of West Antarctica, and the extinction of the Amazon rainforest, is under threat because of the heat and hunger will be more than seven billion people. This scenario is catastrophic, the probability of 5 percent.

“Sverhkachestvennoy” or “existential”, the scenarios the average annual temperature will increase by more than 5 degrees, a systematic evaluation of the consequences of such a development, scientists have not been conducted. It is known that in this case the mankind will face an acute shortage of basic resources, particularly fresh water.

Over the past 200 years due to human activities into the atmosphere amounted to more than 600 billion tonnes of carbon. The scale of the entire atmosphere that led to increased content of carbon dioxide of about 0.012% and raised average global temperature by 1 degree Celsius (1.5 degrees on the continents).
