Approximately 46 percent of the genome of modern apples come from Kazakhstan.
Chinese and American scientists have found the origin of the homemade Apple tree (Malus domestica) is the most popular Apple trees. A study published in the journal Nature Communications.
Modern home Apple mainly originate from Kazakhstan, where wild ancestors of the plants still grow to the West of the Tien Shan. Then this population is spread along the silk road, where they mixed with local types and varieties.
Experts estimate that about 46 percent of the genome of modern apples come from Kazakhstan. For this, the authors analyzed genetic data from 117 different varieties of Apple trees (24 species), including from North America and China.
The specialists knew that the species occurs from Central Asia (Kyrgyzstan, Eastern Kazakhstan and northwestern China). This genetic study clarified the origin of Malus domestica.
