Scientists have created an analogue of the soil of Mars, and came to the conclusion that the water can stay in them in the liquid state even at low temperatures due to the presence of particular salts of perchlorates. The researchers ‘ findings were published in the journal Nature Communications.
In December 2012, researchers at NASA announced that they found in the soil of Mars, perchlorates – chlorine compounds, oxygen, and simple organics.
In the study, researchers created a full simulator of the soil of Mars, he filled it with perchlorates and water, and made sure under what conditions it continued to remain liquid.

In turn, this “compression” in a special way changed the structure of the water molecules, preventing them from freezing even at temperatures not exceeding minus 60-70 degrees Celsius.
It should be noted that perchlorate is the strongest poison for all forms of life on earth, and recent experiments on growing bacteria in “Martian” soil over the fact that all the colonies of the microbes died in the first 60 seconds after the start of the experiment.
