Scientists have discovered an unknown ancient bacteria

In Yakutia, scientists have discovered ancient, previously unknown bacteria, which are more than three million years.

They can’t predict what will happen if the bacteria spread throughout the modern environment.

Scientists from the U.S. and Russia investigated permafrost on the territory of the reserve “mammoth mountain”. They stated that they were able to discover ancient bacteria, which formed three million years ago. A scientist from Moscow state University named after M. V. Lomonosov Anatoly Brushko noted that bacteria can be both dangerous and beneficial to the environment. Brushko said that now the unknown functions of bacteria, so the researchers can not say anything about how bacteria will interact with the modern world of living organisms.

He noted that in the reserve you can find several types of bacteria that can harm the environment. Brushko added that if there is a thawing of the rocks, and bacteria will spread, this will lead to unpredictable consequences.
