University of California researchers found 117 previously unknown exoplanets, based on data obtained over the last 20 years with a telescope HIRES at the Keck Observatory in Hawaii. This is stated in the message of The Astronomical Journal.
The telescope can detect the gravitational fluctuations caused by the rotation of planets around their stars.
“We presented a list of 117 of planet-candidates that have not been mentioned among possible”, – stated in the message.
The list is made the basis of the analysis of signals that are not a consequence of the rotation or activity for stars.
“The existence of 50 celestial bodies, was established with some confidence that require additional verification”, -, gourits in the message.
Today, astronomers have confirmed the existence of exoplanets 3563.
