The Russian military has started demining of the city of Deir ez-Zor in Syria, according to the defense Ministry.
It is noted that “at the present time to ensure the safety of humanitarian convoys sent to the city of Deir ez-Zor, a group of engineering reconnaissance and mine clearance work by road-clearing roadsides and adjacent buildings at the entrances to the city and its outskirts”.
“According to preliminary estimates near the city of Deir ez-Zor and the surrounding settlements of the Russian experts to be cleared of explosive objects up to 1.5 thousand hectares”, – said the military Department.
“The bomb squad is equipped with the latest BTR-82АМ and armored Typhoon, Lynx. For remote demining of the area is used by a multifunctional robotic system Uranium-6. Engineers equipped with the latest military kits clearance OVR-2-02,” – said in the message.
The defense Ministry reminded that Syria deployed more than 170 servicemen of the International anti-mine centre of the Russian armed forces, 40 units, 10 calculations of mine and search service.
