Russian special services tried to arrange a cyber attack on the network equipment Aul chloroperlidae station is one of the critical infrastructure of Ukraine, but their efforts were blocked by the experts of the SBU. About it told the press service of the Ministry.
The IT experts of the Ukrainian security services reported that within a few minutes of system control of technological processes and detect signs of emergency situations of the enterprise “was deliberately infected with a virus VPNFilter from the territory of the Russian Federation”.
As explained in the SBU, the continuation of this cyber attack could lead to accidents at the facility.
“The intent of the aggressor was to block sustainable operation that is the overflow station, which provides liquid chlorine for water purification of water and sewage enterprises throughout Ukraine”, – explained in Department.
VPNFilter code was “localized and defused,” said the SBU.
The SBU recalled that in may its IT experts have documented signs of training of the Russian special services to conduct such cyber attacks (using VPNFilter) for the state and private sectors.
VPNFilter – tiered modular malware with universal features that provide the kiberrazvedki and destructive cyber operations.
