Russian families increased weekly costs

Such a “mental border” poverty is 11.6% above the specified authorities the poverty line — the subsistence minimum, which in the II quarter of 2019 amounted to 11.2 thousand rubles.

According to the survey “Levada-center”, 40% of respondents have monthly income below the subjective poverty frontiers, that is less than 12.5 thousand rubles a month.

At the same time, the survey, to maintain a normal level of life of Russian family needs approximately 38,1 thousand rubles per person.

As suggested by a senior researcher in the Institute for social analysis Ranepa Dmitry Loginov, when establishing the subsistence level, that is official the poverty line, the government focus on the possibility of budgets of various levels and tend to calculate this figure with the reduction factor.

We add that, according to Rosstat, the number of Russians, whose incomes are below the subsistence minimum (poverty level), in the II quarter of 2019 amounted to 18.6 million people (i.e. 12.7 per cent of the total population). In 2018, in the second quarter, below the poverty line lived to 12.5% of the population. In annual terms, the level of poverty in Russia increased by 0.2 percentage points.

As explained in Department, this is due to the fact that the subsistence minimum in the II quarter of 2019 has increased over the same period last year by 7.1% and amounted to 11 thousand 185 rubles. Inflation in annual terms amounted to 5%, and growth in per capita money incomes of population is 5.6%.

In late August the Ministry of economic development (MED) of the Russian Federation updated macroeconomic forecast for 2020 and, in particular, expects a decline in the rate of growth of real incomes of Russians to almost zero.

As for the current year, the Ministry forecasts growth in real disposable incomes of Russians only 0.1% compared with the previous estimate of 1%. However, the anticipated level of poverty by the end of 2020 increased to 12.5% (previously 12% by the end of 2019).
