The parties have not yet agreed on the question of the production of air defense systems in Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Arabia can buy from Russia not less than four battalions of the air defense system of air defense s-400 Triumph. This writes Kommersant, citing a source familiar with the negotiations Saudi king Salman bin Abdul-Aziz al-Saud and the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin in Moscow.
“Saudi military can buy at least four battalions of Triumphs (about $2 billion)”, – reports the edition.
According to the source, the exact parameters of the deal to be discussed at a meeting of the intergovernmental Commission on military-technical cooperation to be held in late October.
Thus, in the Saudi military-industrial company (SAMI) said that the Memorandum provides for partial localization of production of components of s-400. But Russian negotiators insist that the percentage of this localization should be small, and all major components must be performed exclusively by, the EBA concern Almaz-Antey.
In case of signing of the contract, Saudi Arabia could become the third foreign buyer of s-400. Earlier, Russia has signed contracts for the supply of air defense systems to China and Turkey.
