Russia will not participate in the Eurovision song contest

The Eurovision organizers finally confirmed that Russia will not participate in the competition.

Russia will not participate in the 62nd international Eurovision song contest in Kiev. This is stated in the statement of the European broadcasting Union (EBU).

It is noted, topically relay in Russia – First channel – rejected all compromise proposals proposed by the EBU. It was about the opportunities for Russian singer Yulia Samoilova to perform at the competition virtual with the help of satellite communication, or to send the contest to another representative or the representative of the Russian Federation.

“Unfortunately, both proposals were rejected by the First channel, and now they said that they do not intend to broadcast the Eurovision song contest-2017. Unfortunately, this means that Russia will no longer be able to participate in the competition,” reads the statement.

“We really want all 43 countries had the opportunity to take part and did everything to achieve this”, – noted in the European broadcasting Union.

As reported Корреспондент.net SBU for three years denied entry to Ukraine singer Yulia Samoilova, which Russia has delegated to the Eurovision song contest-2017 in Kiev. This is due to the fact that after illegally visited the Crimea, in violation of the law of Ukraine.
