Stratfor revealed the Kremlin’s plans to revise approaches to the financing of militants in Eastern Ukraine.
Russia is preparing to change the strategy in the conflict in the Donbass. In particular, in 2019-2020 Moscow plans to reduce humanitarian support to the occupied areas of Donbass.
This is stated in the report, the us private intelligence analysis company Stratfor.
According to intelligence reports, this was said at a meeting with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak.
Experts also note that the information about changes in the financing of the separatists appeared on the eve of discussions on the UN peacekeeping mission in the Donbass, the initiator was the President of Russia Vladimir Putin.
Although this proposal was criticized Ukrainian authorities and Western countries, but this intensified the negotiation process.
“Recent developments indicate that Russia is looking for ways to ease the pressure from the West for her part in the war in Ukraine. Russia will continue to support the uncontrolled territory of Donbass due to the location of the region on the border. But Moscow has shown a willingness to be more flexible in their approaches and levels of support of individual regions of Donetsk and Lugansk regions”, – the report says Stratfor.
