Russia plans military steps against Belarus, if the political situation there will change. This was stated by the head of the Estonian defense Forces Riho Terras in an interview with ERR.
“Like Ukraine, Russia planning military action against Belarus, if the political situation there will change. The Russian armed forces and security structures are trained to ensure that, if necessary, to intervene and to conduct a military operation in Belarus. The planning for the operation began in 2014,” said Terraces.
According to him, the objective of the exercises Zapad-2017 and other joint military exercises – maximal binding of the Belarusian armed forces with the Russian.
“The goal is to paralyze the capacity of the Belarusian military to act independently”, – said the head of the defence forces of Estonia.
