Scientists from the Institute of automation National University of San Juan in Argentina carried out for robots special course that teaches them to appreciate people’s personal space and avoid collision with them.
Daniel guerrera, author of scientific works on this topic says that people respect the personal space of another person in different forms of interactions, and when the robot instill a model of human behavior, it is necessary to teach each of the possible scenarios.
Researchers believe that robots are more likely to be accepted by society, if they can be programmed to Wagenfeld attitude to personal space and create a reaction similar to human social interactions. In the experiment, the robot imitated one of the team members and avoid personal space of another.
The results showed that the robot is able to imitate certain behaviors. And guerrera, believes that such control can improve the recognition of robot society if they will be able to simulate such aspects of human behavior.
