Nick Di Santo is a man of hard destiny. His father he never knew, and a mother for many years in a psychiatric hospital. On top of that nick has an uncanny ability – touching a person, he sees how he will die, provided that the death will be violent. Shortly before his twenty-third birthday Nick is going to kick from the mother, from whom he learns that his father is alive. And accidentally touching her, sees her agonizing death in the fire. A few days in the hospital is a fire. A little later, Nick learns that from his mother he inherited a house in some small town – house, which he constantly drew as a child, though I haven’t been there. Taking a best friend and a pregnant bride, Nick goes in search of an inheritance, hoping to find a trace of his father.
After the indispensable scary stories from the local inhabitants, the company finds a home (washed out from your old place flooding) using Trinity munitsipalnih workers that make up the map. And even the enthusiasm of cartographers, somehow very much easily coming off from work and traveling to help strangers look for some kind of wreck, the heroes do not mind. Moreover, in the van already waiting for them a far more creepy guy named Seth, almost directly threatening with an axe to all, except Nike – which invites in the house, but only to have a little pogrozit. And then heroes without much ADO start to chase wild species hairy men with axes. That would be pretty frustrating if the Longhorn killer did not move exclusively on all fours and sideways. And because it’s funny.
Despite the typical Set and sometimes downright funny monkeys with axes, the beginning of the “Dark House” is quite interesting. Quite a sense of mystery is created, and good directing and script allow us to hope that the film will do without quite so hackneyed cliché – and if you’re lucky, the author on them and make fun time.
Unfortunately, somewhere in the middle of the first scene with hairy lumberjacks movie stops. The next hour heroes run through the woods, struggling with broken cell phones (which, however, udobnenko so provide Internet access when you really need Wikipedia), occasionally blunt and to focus not notice that their fellow-travellers cartographers something wrong. The only thing that happens is interesting – returning to a town that seems abandoned heroes (and the audience his show is even human), but the explanation will appear only in the last few minutes.
In order to compensate for the relative meaninglessness of the previous hour, the last fifteen minutes the audience were falling one after another, plot twists, discoveries, and revelations. Most of them, however, is predictable (generally called character Lilith (not Lily, namely Lilith) – all the same what to write on her forehead in large letters, “EVIL”), and that is not predictable – rather pointless. And when they are still crammed into the last ten minutes to take it becomes absolutely impossible. Not to mention the fact that the movie ends with a situation that mimic the eyeballs. Well, so that the audience really did not count on something interesting.
Surprisingly, but frankly mediocre story got a more than decent cast. I wish to work practically with nothing, while Tobin bell still manages to impress even in his two short scenes. The worse is Luke Lantana, the leading actor, although towards the end he still manages a couple of decent scary scenes.
Salve failed to repeat the success – and rather dubious – “Jeepers creepers”. In “Dark House” has interesting ideas, but for the most part they remain exactly that, ideas, unrealized and undisclosed. Potentially, the story could get interesting, but most of the film is boring, isolation – crumpled and messy, and the plot twists predictable. Watch it, of course, possible, there is also a lot worse, but even up to “decent” film falls short. At best “mediocre”.
