Residents of Uzhgorod admire the blossom of the Judas tree

In Uzhgorod began a period of flowering of the Judas tree, or Cercis Chinese.

This year the blossom of the Judas tree coincided with the peak bloom of cherry blossoms, magnolias and ornamental fruit trees.

The plant, which is also called the European Barannik, is growing not only in Uzhgorod Botanical garden, but also in parks and squares of the regional center of Transcarpathia. The natural habitat of the Chinese Cercis covers the Mediterranean and the middle East.

Cercis Judah is called a tree because according to one legend, on this tree hanged himself repentant Judas after the betrayal of Jesus Christ.

Tree with unusual form of flowering can be found in the building of Transcarpathian regional administration, on the square of Friendship of peoples, the historical and cultural center and the Waterfront of Independence.

Unique tree makes it the flowers that cover the tree completely – the young branches, trunk, Corey. As a result, the tree turns into a rose Bush. Thousands of flowers of Cercis attracted to their views even in the form of buds, but the leaves on the tree will appear after the flowering period.

Judas tree likes the heat and is sensitive to strong winds and fluctuating temperatures, so the warm climate of Transcarpathia, in particular Uzhgorod is comfortable for him. And if this is usually a tree has a shrub form and a height of about two meters, Uzhgorod Barannik grows to 3-4 metres.
