Residents of St. Petersburg was puzzled by a strange ball of fire

Scientists are actively discussing an unusual phenomenon.

In the sky above Peter flew a mysterious fireball that had baffled astronomers.

The nature and orbit of the meteorite burning up in the atmosphere over St. Petersburg, not identified, said senior researcher Pulkovo Observatory Sergei Smirnov.

“Any body, burning up in the atmosphere and leave bright light, called bolide. This term is used in science and in everyday life. The specific nature of the object and its orbit are not defined, as the footage there is no description of the exact place of its occurrence, and often even referred to the fall of the object is inaccurate,” said the scientist, adding that, most likely, the car completely burned up in earth’s atmosphere.

And users of social networks are actively discussing the glowing Orb in the sky over St. Petersburg like a meteorite, published numerous photos and videos.

“Yesterday at ten past eight in the evening saw the meteorite, went to work, did not believe, thought, just so long rocket launcher, flying above, green was in the end, went out, in my opinion, forty meters above the ground. I saw much closer, with four hundred meters,” writes one user in a social network “Vkontakte”.

“See! Right in front of me in the sky flying. Honestly was expecting shock a minute, but apparently, the meteorite burned in the atmosphere,” writes another user.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing a bright flash in the sky in different parts of the city.

“Watched it drop into the clear sky yesterday, from the dam of Kronstadt, if you hold the X-axis and Y through the center of St. Petersburg, the trajectory was North-East quadrant, but to me it is completely burned up in the atmosphere, the speed was very large and beautiful rear tail flame,” writes one of the witnesses
