Biathlete Olga Podchufarova, who decided to play for the national team of Slovenia, said that in Russia the athletes do not feel protected, and pointed to their lawlessness. Her words are available on the website “Match TV”.
“It is clear that Russia has a conflict with the world anti-doping Agency (WADA). No matter clean you are an athlete or not, you are still without rights and are not protected in this situation,” said Podchufarova. She added that she never regretted the change of sport nationality.
On 9 December, the Executive Committee of WADA has suspended Russia from participating in the Olympic games and world Championships, as well as their conduct, for four years. The Russian anti-doping Agency was stripped of its status of compliance.
About the decision Podchufarova to replace sports citizenship became known on October 16. The Association of ski sports of Slovenia stressed that the initiative under the country’s flag came from the women.
The highest achievement in the career Podchufarova is bronze in the mixed relay at the world Championships in 2017.
