RBC: sabotage is considered as one of the versions of fire on a submarine in the Barents sea

The Commission, under the leadership of Navy commander Nicholas evmenova, investigating circumstances of the fire on the submarine, which killed 14 sailors, considering several versions. It’s a diversion, a short circuit in the electrical panel and “a kind of external influence”, which could be a “collision with the external object”, which in a battery is exposed to water, according to RBC with reference to sources.

“If water enters the battery, it starts to produce chlorine, and this leads to overheating and explosion”, — quotes the edition of the interlocutor familiar with the work of submarines.

One of the sources said that the sabotage may have been committed, if at the stage of preparation of the boat for the task it was “to a predetermined element that led to the explosion.” According to the source, the security system on submarines makes this version unlikely.

The defense Ministry information has not commented on, proposing to wait until the end of the Commission’s work.
