Elizabeth II is Queen regnant of great Britain from 1952 to the present.
She came to the throne on 6 February 1952 at the age of twenty-five years, and today is the long-reigning monarch in the history of the UK.
Initially no one thought she’ll be Queen, because she was third in line of succession to the throne. So Elizabeth managed to hold a relatively carefree childhood. Collected here are some of the earliest photographs of Elizabeth taken in 1940.
In these photos Elizabeth not a little girl anymore and not yet a Queen, a real Princess, much like princesses from fairy tales and cartoons.
