The Verkhovna Rada ratified the agreement between the government of Ukraine and the EU on Ukraine’s participation in the EU program “Competitiveness of the enterprises of small and medium-sized enterprises (Cosme) (2014-2020)”. For the corresponding bill №0130 voted by 226 people’s deputies at Parliament session on Wednesday, February 22.
According to the explanatory Memorandum to the bill, ratification will provide the legal basis for Ukraine’s accession to the Cosme programme, which is aimed at creation of favorable conditions for development of small and medium-sized businesses.
The program is implemented in the framework of the strategy “Europe 2020” and approved by the regulatory Council of the EU of 11 December 2013. It covers the period 2014-2020 and has a total budget of 2.3 billion euros.
The program provides for the provision of professional consultation, trainings, seminars and different sectoral conferences for small and medium-sized businesses, as well as exchange programs, internships and additional opportunities of finding partners in the EU.
We will note, Ukraine ranked 74th in the Forbes best countries for business in 2017.
