Protests in Iran: death toll has risen

The total death toll at 20 people.

Last night in the clashes in Iran nine people were killed — thus, the total number of deaths during the protests rose to 20, reports the associated Press, citing Iranian state television.

Six of them were killed during the attack on a police station in the town of Kaharingan (province of Isfahan), where they tried to steal the weapon. In Khomeinishahr killed 11-year-old girl and 20-year-old man, and in Najafabad is a member of the Islamic revolutionary guard Corps.

Mass protests are held in Iran since December 28. The reason for them was the difficult economic situation and rising prices. As stated by President Hassan Rouhani, the protests caused by internal problems, but it does not exclude incitement from the outside.

Earlier, the Deputy Governor of Tehran announced that in the capital were detained about 450 participants of protest actions.
