Porsche showed looks like a sports car, went on a track half a century ago

The Porsche Museum for the first time will be exhibited a vehicle that has completed its racing career without serious injury.

Porsche has shown how the racing sports car 910/8 Bergspyder after 52 years after his last departure on the route. The car is kept in the Museum of the brand: it was decided not to restore, but to preserve intact for future generations.

This 910/8 Bergspyder shone on the racetracks of Europe in 1967 and even became any vehicle Gerhard Karl Mitter, German racing driver and winner of this popular European Hill Climb Championship.

According to archival records, the building 910/8 Porsche Bergspyder was completed on 13 may 1967. The car equipped with the boxer eight-cylinder engine, whose power was 275 HP. The design 910/8 Bergspyder lightweight materials used: aluminum, titanium and plastic. Under the body out of fiberglass was hiding a steel space frame, and the wheels were made of magnesium.

The bottom and front of the body made of reinforced fiberglass plastic; rear integrated spoiler was attached to the three perforated plates that allow you to adjust it to a specific track. The total mass 910/8 Bergspyder was 450 pounds, and to “hundreds” it accelerates in three seconds.
