Poroshenko urges the Ukrainian army’s transition to NATO standards

The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that the Ukrainian Armed forces, including artillery, should move to NATO standards in the near future.

The President said Friday, November 3, during a trip to the village of Divychky of the Pereyaslav-Khmelnitsky district, Kyiv region on the occasion of the celebration of the day of missile troops and artillery.

“I think that now we should move to the principles which prevail among our partner countries, members of NATO – NATO… the Key feature is the accuracy. Today, the Ukrainian artillery completely meets these requirements. We are steadily moving this way”, – said Poroshenko.

He also recalled that this year, APU has received more than 600 units of missile and artillery weapons, more than 250 units of night vision devices and other modern weapons.

Poroshenko also reported a number of problems in the APU, which take place at this time.

Among them: problems of reconstruction and modernization of weapons, ammunition provide, the educational centres of training of the artillery and of the process of their training, in full accordance with the real needs of the Ukrainian army and the NATO standards.

The President also urged the military to increase the intensity of training of the artillery-missile.
