President Petro Poroshenko summoned for questioning as a witness in the case of treason fugitive ex-President Viktor Yanukovych. The corresponding decision was taken Obolensky district court of Kiev on Thursday, 7 December, having satisfied the petition of the state charge.
Disclosing a list of witnesses who will be questioned in court, the presiding judge Vladislav Devyatko called, in particular, the name “Poroshenko Petr Alekseevich”.
Earlier, representatives of the state prosecution asked the court to subpoena as a witness in the case of treason Yanukovych Petro Poroshenko, who was not questioned during pretrial investigation.
“I ask to call at the hearing Poroshenko Petr Alekseevich as a witness for the prosecution. The need for questioning of this witness arose from the prosecution during the examination of evidence at the hearing, which was held 06.12.2017 of the year”, – said the Prosecutor of the Chief military Prosecutor’s office of Ukraine Ruslan Kravchenko after the reading of the list of prosecution witnesses who were questioned during the investigation.
The prosecution believes that Poroshenko can testify of armed aggression against Ukraine by the state authorities of the Russian Federation, which further led to the annexation of the Crimea Peninsula. Public defender Yanukovych Igor Lyashenko said that no objection to the questioning of Poroshenko in court.
