Poroshenko promises to protect NABOO

The President commented on the work of anti-corruption bodies in Ukraine.

President Poroshenko promises not to allow political interference in the work of anti-corruption structures. The head of state said on Friday, December 8, during a visit to Lithuania.

“I declare that there are no hazards regarding political interference in the activities of anti-corruption institutions, I will not tolerate,” – said Poroshenko.

The head of state stressed the need to ensure effective protection of the work of the National anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine from interference by politicians.

“On the contrary I believe that it is necessary to expedite the purpose of the audit, it is necessary to ensure effective protection from any political interference of politicians in the work of the NEB and the politicization of the work of any law enforcement and willingness to influence their work”, – said Poroshenko.

He also added that more than “two and a half years of activities of anti-corruption bodies, including the leaders of these agencies claim that not once was the interference of these bodies with the President”.

Commenting on the situation with the delay in the creation in Ukraine of anti-corruption court, Poroshenko reiterated the need for the rapid completion of this process.

“I appealed to the Parliament with a request to establish a working group prepare draft taking into account the positions of the Venice Commission and Parliament. And I said that if the Parliament will delay the creation of this working group, I will soon introduce a bill that will be designed by myself and will take into account all the comments that were expressed by the Venice Commission”, – said the President of Ukraine.
