Europe should take a tougher stance, including in political terms, the lesson of the Russian hybrid war. This was stated by President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, speaking at the fifth summit of the Eastern partnership on Friday, November 24, in Brussels.
“Europe has got a serious opponent – Russia – with deep anti-European agenda. To undermine Europe, Russia does not need to attack with weapons (enough to undermine the unity of Europe…). If Europe wants to survive, it needs to become more hard – politically, rhetorically and ideologically. We must learn the lesson of the Russian hybrid war in the whole of Europe – from Britain and Spain to the Netherlands, France and Germany”, – quotes Poroshenko his press service.
Poroshenko said that the EU should speak with their partners clearly and not to limit their potential, “otherwise, the appetite of Russia’s only warm up”.
According to the President of Ukraine, after what happened in the years 2014-2017, there is no return to the old days.
“The puzzle of East and West Europe needs to be re-stacked together – and the Eastern partnership may become an integral part,” – said Poroshenko.
He noted that when precise and meaningful strategy for the European region can be turned “into a fortress for political stability, social stability and economic prosperity.”
